CODES AND CONVENTIONS OF NEWSPAPER ADVERTISEMENTS:

As a class, we discussed codes and conventions of newspaper advertisements for documentaries. The following link shows examples of of the print adverts we looked at as a class:

CODES AND CONVENTIONS:
- Title: font is relevant to topic
- Channel logo: stands out (indent)
- Slogan is relevant to content(eyecatching and intriguing), anchors narrative+topic or what the audience should expect.
- image sums up the documentary- tells you a story, dramatic for audience.
- has a strong theme in both newspaper advert and radio trailer (continuity).
- Usually text is all together at the bottom right or left hand side of the advert, bold and indent.
